Domain Plus Hosting

(open)
In this video I show you how I saved at least £5.20 by transferring my domain from GoDaddy to Eco Web Hosting, where I also host my website. Initially on GoDaddy it cost 99p for my domain for a year but at renewal they quoted me £15.99 (£15 jump!) so I wanted to see if I could transfer my website to a cheaper provider and it turns out Eco Web Hosting was cheaper. As an environmentalist I leaped again the chance to save money and plant trees at the same time. I hope this is a helpful guide. I often find most tech YouTube videos hard to understand so I do hope that this is a bit easier in laymen’s terms as I am not that tech savvy (although I get better every year).

  1. You need to be very attentive and cautious when you are purchasing from GoDaddy. I bought a domain from GoDaddy for 1 year, initially, the price mentioned was very low it was Rs 761 for the first year and if someone clicks to "Add To Cart" then they include the additional cost of extra services like "Privacy Protection", "Professional Email" and the 1 year domain plan becomes 2 years plan and my subtotal was Rs 14,000. And they have written it in such a way that if someone is doing it for the first time would most probably not be able to see it. And the worst part is their refund policy. According to them If a Hosting Service has already been performed, then it is non-refundable (if not yet performed, eligible for a refund within 30 days of the date of the transaction). It has been more than 10 days and I am still waiting for my refund. It was very disappointing and I will never buy anything from GoDaddy..
