An interesting overview, Chris.
Although, I'm not really a fan of the free option when it comes to web hosting for the fact that it can go down quite often (from experience). Much prefer to choose a low-cost solution on AWS or Google Cloud.

Love the comment about people who pirate the software when they can afford it <3 I have been unemployed for over a year and truly have no money, I truly appreciate this information.
Any sites offering managed Word press and is that needed to get your site hosted
When it comes to creating a "free" website I found W/P to be somewhat limiting. Especially when I wanted to open an online store and did not have the funds to start the project. So eventually I came across the guys from 000webhost. I found their free hosting and name service was by far superior with far less restrictions. I could even open a Shopify store! Please take a look @ https://tinyurl.com/y9g4d4ej I would appreciate hearing about your experience with them.

I am now using them for about 3 months and never seen
any downtime of server problems. There is no any kind
of advertising on my pages too, so I think its worth
to signup.
Hi, which is the best according to you.Which one would you recommend?
cheers
What about Azure?
+Chris Hawkes 0:20 "I always recommend…. LENODE" sorry I can't understand the first site that u recommend that was not free… if u can add the link into description, would be could just to check (I know it's not free… or if u want to go with a new video with the "best pay hostings 2017 " it's ok too.
firebase?
Great video, I didn't know few of the free hosting option. Thanks Chris.
Thanks a lot for the video really useful info for those of us who don't have the $ to spare!
hi, can i ask what is the template you use in hisptercode.com?
The backside of free compute resources is the amount of criminal activity it attracts and the cost of having to manage that. I'm not going to mention names here but some companies don't bother doing much about it because it doesn't hurt them financially. You don't need much network traffic and compute power to do some real harm. Some don't even restrict mail ports causing a lot of phishing. A lot of people underestimate how much damage this costs our society and how easy it is for criminals to automate their deployment these days. Even if they are taken down after 15 minutes, that is a win for scammers. They got a new IP to spew their garbage from.
Great video. I also used byet.host for like a month now, servers seem fast for free hosting platform. Though you have to visit your site and log into your account once in a while so it doesn't get deleted.
you missed out pythonanywhere
happy holidays.cs chris!
What about dreamhost's free for non-profit?
+Chris Hawkes AWS Lambda is cheaper and, probably for most people, easier and better than EC2 (in my opinion)
hey Chris….please do a video on AWS that would be awesome….
One thing to note is that some of these hosting options are IAAS(Infastracture as a Service) and some are PAAS(Platform as a service)..depending on your skill level, commitment to setting up and maintaining server configs, and other factors like scaling you may want to consider that as well.
Lol, that patreon plug made me giggle 🙂
Awesome info! Thanks, Chris.
I expected a comparison of these
Chris, what programming-related Youtube channels are you watching yourself?
gomix.com created by Fog Creek = Joel Spolsky.
+1 Nice with links, so I don't have to provide the list 🙂
Look forward to AWS in the new year!
You wrote "PayPay" instead of PayPal in the description.
